Student Paper Competition
The Student Paper Competition Guidelines
Any full-time university student from any country, who is the principal (first-named) author and the presenter of a paper at the “2019 URSI-Japan Radio Science Meeting” (URSI-JRSM 2019), can apply for the Student Paper Competition (SPC).
The PDF version of the Student Paper Competition Guidelines is here.
Applications should be completed by August 5, 2019 (Exteded). Every SPC applicant must submit his/her
・ one-page abstract;
・ full-length paper (4 pages, Sample (PDF) / (Word) );
and
・ a certification letter by his/her advisor,
all in PDF format simultaneously via the URSI-JRSM 2019 paper submission webpage. The certification letter needs to be provided on the university letterhead and signed by the student’s advisor, which must state that the author is a full-time university student in a degree program. In the case of multiple authors, the letter must state that the role of the authors other than the applicant was primarily advisory in nature. No other students are allowed as co-authors. In the preparation of full-length papers, the applicants should follow the instructions posted on the Conference website.
Each of the SPC applicants must confirm that he/she will attend the Conference and present his/her paper in the poster session scheduled in the afternoon of September 5, 2019. The URSI-JRSM 2019 Technical Program Committee (TPC) will select the three finalists by taking into account the quality, the originality, and the scientific merit of the full-length papers by the applicants, as well as the clarity of their presentations in the poster session.
The three SPC finalists will each receive a free ticket for the Conference Banquet to be held in the evening of September 5, 2019, where the URSI-JRSM 2019 TPC will make an announcement on the finalists.
All the three finalists must present their contributions orally in the SPC Special Session (open to all the URSI-JRSM 2019 participants) scheduled in the morning of September 6, 2019. At the SPC Special Session, members of the URSI-JRSM 2019 TPC will judge presentations by the three finalists and select the winners of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes. The winners will receive the following prizes at the Closing Ceremony in the afternoon of September 6, 2019.
-
・ 1st prize: a certificate and 40,000 Yen (in cash)
-
・ 2nd prize: a certificate and 20,000 Yen (in cash)
-
・ 3rd prize: a certificate and 10,000 Yen (in cash)
It is required that the finalists attend the Closing Ceremony. The SPC selection results will also be announced on the URSI-JRSM 2019 website.
The three SPC finalists will be invited to submit their full-length papers to the “Special Issue on the URSI-JRSM 2019 Student Paper Competition,” which is planned for publication in the peer-reviewed URSI journal, Radio Science Bulletin (RSB).
